Asian House Geckos loathe them or love them they are here to stay! This introduced reptile has well and truly established itself on the Sunshine Coast and is causing many mixed emotions, by short circuiting our air-conditioner units yet providing free pest control. And with evidence of yet another introduced gecko species (the Mourning Gecko) populating itself right here in Noosa!
The guest speaker this week at Noosa Parks Association Friday Environment Forum is Jay Turner (owner/operator Laguna Pest Control), who is familiar to many in Noosa who attended his popular talks on termites, spiders and rats.
This weeks presentation is all about Asian House Geckos. On August 24, Jay will talk about the biology of this highly successful invader, their positive and negative impact on us and our environment and of course discuss the effectiveness of the myriad of control products and methods on the market.
So for anybody who is interested in learning how to differentiate between our native and non-native geckos , come along to the NPA Environment Centre, 5 Wallace Drive Noosaville on Friday August 24th or to simply learn how to make your house less gecko friendly . Jay Turner’s previous presentations on Noosa’s local pests have been very popular so this is one talk you don’t want to miss.
The Friday Environment Forum is a public information exchange, provided by guest speakers, covering a range of current conservation and environmental issues. The Friday Environment Forum is held at the Environment Centre at Wallace Park, Noosaville.
